About Us
We are the only firm in Tennessee dedicated solely to the practice of attorney ethics, regulation and licensing.
Ethics Law is an ethics-centric solo practice managed by its owner, Kevin D. Balkwill. Kevin is a third generation military veteran having served in the United States Air Force for seven years as a cargo jet mechanic. During that time, he worked in support of the ouster of Manuel Noriega during the U.S. invasion of Panama and Operation Iraqi Freedom. Kevin earned several Outstanding Unit Awards and the Humanitarian Service Medal for relief efforts in the aftermath of Hurricane Hugo.
Kevin went on to obtain his Bachelor of Media Arts degree from the University of South Carolina in 1994 and worked in the video production industry during and after college. In 1996, Kevin enrolled in law school at the University of Memphis where he worked with Memphis Area Legal Services as a student member of the Public Interest Law Organization and was research editor for the Tennessee Journal of Practice and Procedure.
Kevin began his legal career in Memphis at a small firm where he litigated cases big and small in every court in Shelby County. Kevin went on to open his own practice and focused on a variety of legal areas including consumer protection. In 2009 Kevin and his family relocated to middle Tennessee where he served as Disciplinary Counsel for the Board of Professional Responsibility over the next 12 years. Kevin handled thousands of ethics investigations during that time and spent time in litigation handling various disciplinary cases.
